FARM tyres filled the doorway, and the two Goodyear managers were trapped in the conference room with angry workers demanding more money in exchange for the inevitable loss of their jobs. Monday’s meeting was not going well.

Only yesterday Nathan had been down at the bank, discussing their finances. His wife had been on at him about doing this and that, about where the next kid was gonna go, and all that stuff. Having four kids in a three bedroom house was cramped enough, but having another one. That was just too much. So he’d been to the bank to increase their mortgage so that they could add another room out the back for the new child. However, when he arrived at work to the announcement that their would be the loss of jobs, he just knew he was in trouble, he knew he had to do something. Who was going to take on a middle aged factory worker? Where was he going to get work? Desperate situations call for desperate action …
